Education

I graduated from Drew University in 2004 with a B.A. in Biology with a minor in Music. My studies at Drew focued mainly in the area of ecology and animal behavior. I took both marine ecology classes and designed a research project aimed at monitoring winter flocking behaviors of Black-capped Chickadees and Tufted Titmice. I also spent a semester abroad through the School for Field Studies at their Centre for Rainforest Studies in Queensland, Australia. There I studied all aspects of the Wet Tropics rainforest and participated in a research project monitoring bird usage in rainforest fragments surrinding an experimental restoration plot.

Experience

Jan. 2007 - Present: Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation, Dundee, IL
Education Assistant. I teach outdoor field science classes with regards to conservation and ecology of native Illinois habitat. Classes include subjects on: pond, forest, prairie, insects, birds, endangered species, adaptations, maple syrup, and more. Responsibilities include scheduling class field trips, writing new programs, creating and organizing summer camps, and other miscellaneous projects for the education department.

Sept. - Nov. 2006: Ferry Beach Ecology School, Saco, ME
Ecology Educator. Taught outdoor experiential education in a residential setting on the coast of Maine to school children between 1st and 8th grades. Classes included ecology of the beach, forest, salt marsh, and tide pools.

Sept. 2005 - May 2006: McDowell Environmental Center, Nauvoo, AL
Environmental Educator. Taught outdoor experiental education in a residental setting in northern Alabama to school children between 1st and 12th grades. Classes included forest and aquatic ecology, teambuilding, outdoor skills, canoeing, and live animal programs with raptors and snakes.

Sept. 2004 - May 2005: NJAS Weis Ecology Center, Ringwood, NJ
Environmental Educator. Taught outdoor experiental education to day groups from kidnergarten to adult. Organized and coordinated public programs for families and adults including designing the programs, writing press releases, and organizing volunteers.

Jul. - Aug. 2002, 2003, 2004: New Jersey Governors School for the Sciences, Madison, NJ
Counselor and Teacher's Assistant. A one-month program for high school seniors in the top of their class, I assisted in classes, labs, and team research projects as well as playing a supervisor role in the dorms.
